Hello old confusing friend, no matter where I am in Texas I seemed to get lost and this visit was no exception. Amarillo was really confusing because roads split off and you can't see road signs, but other than that my short visit (for once) to Texas was enjoyable.

| Of course there's a giant cross, this is God's Country |
I did get Schlotzky's and that made me very happy and of course there were a lot of big things to see in Texas because if you don't know "Everything is bigger in Texas."

| I got beer here, I had to get beer in Texas, it's the states drink |
I hit Cadillac Ranch just in time, it started to rain. I love the fact that vandalism is encouraged, and I sure did vandalized, as much as I could anyway, I found a spray can on the ground and sprayed my initials on one of the Cadillacs. At Bug Ranch (poor mans Cadillac Ranch) I even got to spell my whole name (be jealous).

I stopped at Devil's Rope Museum in McLean which now houses the giant cobra that used to be at Regal Reptile Ranch. I was most interested in the Route 66 and Dust Bowl sections of the museum, but they also have a section of barbed wire and branding, if you're into that sort of thing. They had some good pictures showing how awful the Dust Bowl was, one picture showed the dust half way up a gas pump; I started talking to the women running the museum and her mom was in Oklahom during this time and she said it was and a terrible time for everyone, people thought it was the end of the world, all you could see is a huge cloud of dust.

I passed through Shamrock which had according to them an original piece of the Blarney Stone. I also had some bangin' flautas from a Conoco.

One of my favorite things about Route 66 are all the refurbished gas stations, they aren't working but it gives you a feel of how things were back then; patient! Only three pumps with one hose, imagine the lines.
