I stayed at the Sands Motel for the night mainly because Elvis Presley stayed there, but I'm pretty sure it was a lot nicer when he stayed. The phone was missing the side piece,s so you could see the guts of the phone and there were two air conditioner in the room. One on the wall that worked and a broken one sitting on the floor. There was also an ice machine with no ice, but hey what do you expect for $42.

I did stop at the Casino because my guidebook said there was a giant alert inside, but apparently it was removed a couple years ago, so instead of getting a picture I lost $5.

I stopped at the Bandera Volcano and Ice Cave. There are two things to see there the volcano which is about a halr mile hike uphill on a unpaved gravel trail; I don't know if I would go back to see that considering I went to the Craters of the Moon park, but I would definitely pay the $12 to see the Ice Cave again. That thing is amazing. Per the brochure the floor of the ice is approximately 20 feet thick and never gets above 31 degrees. The deepest ice dates back 3,400 years.

I made a stop at Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, which is a little swimming hole. You can also scuba dive, but need a permit. The hole is about 81 feet deep and 60 feet around. The water never gets above 61 degrees, I didn't swim because it was about 60 degrees outside.

I found myself a Black Cherry Route 66 soda, which are basically in every souvenir shop in New Mexico. I was way more excited than I should have been when I found this.
