Sequoias

Made it to Sequoia National Park August 29th, and like all the other parks it was really beautiful.  Again a lot of hiking trails that I did not do, but the drive was still pretty.

I did stop at the Giant Forest Museum, it tells all about how Sequoias grow, how they die, and how to protect them.  I also drove through Giant Forest, which basically is really big trees.  By the museum is a tree called Sentinel, which is of course massive.

The park also has the biggest tree in the world; General Sherman.  It is considered the largest because of the total volume of wood, there are other trees that are taller and wider, but because of the volume it is considered bigger.  Sherman is about 2200 years old and it's largest branch is about seven feet around.  Every year Sherman grows enough wood to make a 60-foot-tall tree of regular size.
