Niagara Falls

August 3rd I arrived at Niagara Falls.  My annual National Park card finally came in handy, I didn't have to pay for parking at the park.  I did have to pay for the Cave of the Winds visit, but it was totally worth it.

Horseshoe Falls

I was at the Falls for about six hours because I of course got lost walking around the park and it also took me an hour to get through the US border checkpoint.

American Falls

I walked over to the Canada side of the Falls and from that point you can see all of the falls not just part of it like on the US side.  I was only there for about 30 minutes.  Time enough to see the falls and buy postcards, interesting fact they don't take you pennies.

Canada

I had to pay $0.50 to get back into the states from Canada which was dumb.  Coming back there were about five people working in the US office, but only three were doing anything.  One guy was pressing a button to let you know you could come into the office and the other two were checking passports.  Apparently a family didn't read the signs when leaving to Canada, you must have a passport to leave and come back.  So that meant only one guy was checking passports and the other guy was trying to verify this family wasn't going to try to destroy the US side of Niagara Falls, so what should of taken 15 minutes, took me an hour.

View from Canada

I also waited an hour for Cave of the Winds.  The women selling ticket said I shouldn't wait till the afternoon to see the cave because the line would get longer (don't tell me how to live my life).  Well she was right because I ended up waiting for an hour, with a group of kids that didn't know what personal space meant and one kid trying to cut the line.  The 30 year old came out of me at that point and yelled at him you know you're behind me, stop trying to cut.  It worked; he stayed a few feet behind me for the rest of the wait, haha adulthood.

Cave of the Winds

When I got in line for the Cave you got your picture taken in front of a waterfall back splash.  When I walked up the kid handing out the numbers for your pictures looked really confused, I told him I was by myself and he said very seriously "take the picture."  I did, but $27 for three pictures is ridiculous, so I didn't buy them.  I got to explore beneath the American Falls, where I got soaked, got to see the Falls up close, and also went to the Hurricane Deck.  There was a lot off wind and water.  If you ever go to Niagara Falls make sure you do the Cave of the Winds tour, it is AMAZING!
